We are back over on the east coast for the next 4 days in Waihi Beach. A very cute little coastal town with a very different vibe than Raglan. The first day, we took a beautiful hike up the coast…

…. and then today, we grabbed some bikes and headed out on the rail trail which started out through some beautiful countryside…

and then into the historic gold mining area..

There was a tunnel that was almost a mile long. The little white dot is the end…

so you have to bring along some extra light… riding through it was pretty wild!

We couldn’t see it all on bikes, so we parked the bikes and started hiking…

got a little muddy, so Tom worked on his balance skills…

…made it into the actual mine shafts…

… and then out the other side for some more beautiful scenery…

Tom spotted a gin distillery on the way back, so stopped for a tasting to round out the day!
