Today we made the trip to Fiordland National Park. It’s New Zealand’s largest national park and takes up a good bit of the southern part of the South island. Just getting there was a journey, but definitely worth the trip!

There’s a bird only found here - an Alpine parrot called a “Kea”. We learned that they are not only beautiful and quite smart, but they love to mess with the tourists and put on show. They look like this…

… They are not shy, and when they are messing with the tourists they look like this! So I had to take a picture of the tourists … taking a picture! Gotta love a bird with a sense of humor!

But we made it to Milford Sound where we took a cruise through the fiord…

It rains most of the time, but the cool thing is that the rain causes the waterfalls to flow… and they were everywhere!

The weather kept shifting, but we were in full “weather channel” mode…

A very memorable day!
