Today we took a water taxi out to Mou Waho - an island in the middle of Lake Wanaka… which has its own lake! The water taxi was definitely an adventure all by itself. It was very windy, and the driver seemed a bit surprised that we really wanted to go (hummm.. maybe we should have paid attention to that red flag)…. Most of the 45 minute trip out looked like this…

But we made it to Mao Waho, and the driver promised to wait for us while we hiked to the top…

We made it to the top, and no surprise, it was even windier! (Not just a bad hair day! :). Tom wanted to do another Weather Channel pic, so we tried to stand up…

But the really cool part was the bonus lake at the top. It was hard to capture the prospective with a camera, but that is the lake we hiked up to is behind Tom, which is almost 1100 feet above Lake Wanaka below.

By the time we got back to the opposite side of the lake, the weather was completely different, and we got to watch the evening sailboat races from our balcony!

Fun day!
