We left Lake Tekapo and headed back towards the east coast. Along the way, we stopped to check out the Moeraki Boulders because well… they were there…

They are supposed to be over 60 million years old (?), and nobody can really explain their origin, but they were actually pretty cool. Tom liked this one because it reminded him of a chocolate Cadbury Easter Egg…

We kept going down the coast to spend some time in a cool coastal town called Dunedin. We took the scenic train up to the Taieri Gorge. This was the fancy historical train station that we started out from…

… and this is the one we ended up in…

… and some of the sites along the way were incredible…

Popular hotel right along the tracks … No vacancy.

We took a bike ride up the Otago Peninsula…

Stopped into the Botancial Gardens…

And finally we had to check out Baldwin Street. Proudly in the Guiness Book of World Records as the world’s steepest street at a 35% grade…

… not sure the person who lives in this house loves all of the attention (we weren’t the only annoying tourists taking pics…)

It has been a fun stopover. We leave tomorrow and head towards Te Anau and the Fjords of Mildford and Doubtful Sound.
