We have loved the slower pace of Bruny Island, and definitely have not gotten tired of our view…

There are so many neat little things that make this place special. We’ve done some beautiful coastal hikes…

Spotted some really cool wildlife, including our first wallaby!

An echidna (a cross between a porcupine and a hedgehog?)

We took a cruise down to the most southern most part of the Tasmanian coast (a mere 1650 miles north of Antartica) to see things from a different prospective, and it was gorgeous. We just reached the point where the Tasman Sea and The Southern Ocean meet, and luckily it was a very calm day! We saw more cool wildlife - a few Albatross - they looked kinda like sea gulls on steroids from a distance, but they are massive and can have a wing span of up to 11 feet, can coast for miles on a single wing flap, and glide over oceans for months at a time… and they can do it while sleeping!

Tom has officially found his spirit animal! 😂

Shaggs - birds who like to pretend they are penguins…

A really cute seal who had lots of friends. Our guide said the great whites like to hang out around here, but I guess they weren’t hungry today (that’s okay - not sure if I was ready for that one!)

These guys were definitely hungry, and were busy fishing…

… the coastline itself was just breathtaking!

The ruggedness of the coastline contrasted with the quaintness of Bruny Island makes it special. The local baker runs his business from a roadside stand using old refrigerators to keep his freshly baked bread warm, and payment is through an honor system…

We leave tomorrow and north up the coast for White Beach, but we have loved our time here in Adventure Bay!
