Today we went with a private guide outside of Bangkok to experience two different kinds of Thai markets. First up was the famous “train market” in Mae Klong Station.

So the market sits directly on active train tracks and the locals sell seafood, fruit, vegetables… whatever - right on the tracks…

When the train approached (there is a helpful published schedule 😂 so we were not surprised), it blew its horn, and the sellers pulled back their awnings and slid their stuff away from the tracks. The train moved through slowly, but just a few inches away from everyone…

Check out the lady in the purple shirt - she didn’t flinch - she just kept right on working on her mangos…

She did look up when the conductor passed and said something to her… Maybe he was ordering some mangos?

It’s was as fun for everyone on the train as it is for us watching…

Then, within minutes of it passing through, everything unfolds again and business resumes. Crazy!

… and this is not a tourist setup, but an actual working market that was adapted to the railway built through the area over a 100 years ago.

We continued the market theme, and headed out to the famous Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Our guide arranged for a private long boat for us (that was a whole experience also!), and we went sputtering down the canals. First, we passed houses…

… and then we entered the floating market area and it got very interesting…

… it got busier…

… and a bit crazier! Not sure if this girl is laughing or crying, but I would be crying if I had that python around my neck!

Will always think of shopping very differently now!
For an added bonus we stopped at a coconut farm on the way back to Bangkok…

Tom volunteered to go up the tree and pick a few…

until he realized how high it really was! 🤣.
We ended the day with a beautiful and yummy dinner on the river at the hotel.
