We are at the top of the Coromandel Peninsula now in a town called Whitianga. A couple of the “must see” places while we are here…
Hahei Beach (AKA hot water beach)
There is geothermal activity directly on Hahei Beach, and if you find just the right spot, and go at just the right tide, you can dig yourself a personal hot mud pool right on the ocean. Sounded amazing, and the internet pics looked even better, so I imagined something kinda like this….
(I think I am finally catching on to this AI stuff even if I am a little late to the party!)
so we got up early this morning to claim “our spot” - haha! My fantasy vs. reality was a bit different…
But Tom was determined anyway…
… and he made a few new friends…
… and I had fun people watching…
… the water was even bubbling in a few places, and too hot to stand in very long…
But definitely no romantic sunrise sipping mimosas!
Next stop was Cathedral Cove made famous by the movie “Chronicles of Narnia”…
It was a bit of hike, but totally worth it…
